  • Profile photos (when you choose to upload or take a photo)
  • Phone number (optional, for account security and friend connections)
  • Location information (city/neighborhood for local connections)
  • Contact list (only when you explicitly grant permission to find friends)
  • Children's age ranges (for matching purposes)
  • Activity preferences and interests

Usage Information: We automatically collect information about how you use our service, including device information, IP address, and usage patterns.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the ParentConnect service
  • Connect you with other parents and local events
  • Send you updates about the app launch and new features
  • Ensure safety and security of our platform
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve our service
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With other parents: Basic profile information to facilitate connections (name, general location, children's age ranges)
  • Service providers: We work with third-party service providers to help us operate ParentConnect, including:
    • Firebase (Google) - hosting, database, authentication, and analytics
    • Cloud storage providers - profile photos and app content
    • Push notification services - to send you app notifications
    These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
  • Legal compliance: When required by law or to protect the safety of our users
  • Business transfers: In connection with any merger, sale, or acquisition of our company

4. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Regular security assessments and updates
  • Access controls and authentication measures
  • Employee training on data protection

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we have about you
  • Correct: Update or correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Portability: Receive your personal information in a portable format (JSON export available in-app)
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time

To exercise these rights, please contact us at help@parentconnect.us. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before processing your request to protect your privacy and security.

In-App Data Management: You can export your data or delete your account directly from the app by navigating to Settings → Privacy Settings → Delete Account.

6. App Permissions

ParentConnect requests the following device permissions to provide its services:

  • Camera: Used only when you choose to take a profile photo. The camera is activated only when you explicitly select the "Take Photo" option in your profile settings. Photos are never taken automatically or without your explicit action.
  • Photo Library: Used when you choose to upload photos from your device for your profile picture, bug reports, or messages. We only access photos you explicitly select.
  • Location: Used to show you nearby parents, activities, and local resources. You can control location access in your device settings and app preferences.
  • Contacts: Used only when you choose to find friends who are already using ParentConnect or to invite friends via SMS. We never access your contacts without your explicit permission.

All permissions are requested at the time they are needed, and you can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.

7. Children's Privacy and Age Requirements

Age Requirement: ParentConnect is designed for parents and guardians who are 18 years of age or older. By using ParentConnect, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

Children's Information: We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. While parents may share information about their children's age ranges to connect with other parents, we do not collect names, photos, or other identifiable information about children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:

  • Active accounts: Personal information is retained while your account is active
  • Deleted accounts: Most personal information is deleted immediately upon account deletion. Some information may be retained for up to 90 days for backup purposes and fraud prevention
  • Legal compliance: Certain information may be retained longer as required by law (e.g., transaction records, safety reports)
  • Aggregated data: We may retain anonymized, aggregated data indefinitely for analytics and service improvement

You can request deletion of your account and personal information at any time through the app settings or by contacting us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: You can opt out of the sale of your personal information (Note: We do not sell personal information)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information:

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not and will not sell your personal information as defined by the CCPA. We share information with service providers (like Firebase) only to operate our service, and they are contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.

How to Exercise Your Rights:

To exercise your CCPA rights, please contact us at help@parentconnect.us with "CCPA Request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity and respond to your request within 45 days. You may also delete your account directly in the app under Settings → Privacy Settings → Delete Account.

12. Geographic Scope

United States Service: ParentConnect is currently available only to residents of the United States. Our services are provided from the United States, and your personal information is stored and processed in the United States.

If you are accessing ParentConnect from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated. By using ParentConnect, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
